Dr. Arijit Jana

Postdoctoral fellow at KIT

About me:

I have completed my doctoral research at the Department of Chemistry, IIT Madras, under the guidance of Prof. Thalappil Pradeep. My research interests are atomically precise metal nanoclusters and cluster-assembled framework solids. The study of the surface chemistry of these nanomaterials by various spectroscopic and microscopic methods is another area of interest. Nanostructured materials synthesis through ambient electrospray deposition is another area of my research activity.

I was working on a project on stimuli-responsive metal clusters and the surface chemistry of cluster-assembled film with Prof. Robin H. A. Ras at Aalto University, Finland. I am also working on a collaborative project on carborane-thiol-protected metal nanoclusters with Dr. Tomas Base (Institute of Inorganic Chemistry, Czech Republic). We are also working on femtosecond and nanosecond ultrafast transient absorption studies of various metal clusters with Prof. K. V. Adarsh (IISER Bhopal, India) and ultralow temperature optical studies of clusters with Prof. Manfred M. Kappes (KIT, Germany).

I received my B.Sc. in Chemistry from the Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira under the affiliation of the University of Calcutta and my M.Sc. degree from IIT Madras. During my M.Sc. project at IIT Madras,  I worked on the synthesis, characterization and mechanoresponsive photophysical behaviors of organoborane materials under the guidance of Prof. Sundargopal Ghosh.
